What We Do
Charity to receive proceeds
Puerto Peñasco Lions Club
This annual fundraising event intends to raise money for the PUERTO PEÑASCO LIONS CLUB, a non-profit organization that works diligently to provide many community services for the young & elderly people of Puerto Peñasco. Through fund raisers and renting of their facility for weddings, quinceñeras and other events, they are able to help our local people by providing recycled glasses for senior citizens, a special program called Sight First, which offers cataract surgery to seniors and Seeing Eye dogs. “This is spear headed by 21 active members” said Rodrigo Peña Campos, Board Member of our Chapter.
They also provide monthly scholarships for children in need of books, uniforms and food for school. Ophthalmologists from Phoenix and the State of Sonora offer eye exams (1200 per year) to local children. They collect blankets, clothing and household goods which they distribute to the community living in the cardboard homes in the outskirts of town. Edgar Padilla of Sonoran Sun’s El Catorce Restaurant & Bar is offering his restaurant as a drop off point. The list goes on and on what they do for our community.
Donations can also be made directly to this organization and your gift, regardless of size will be of much help to this special organization, because they can help, and we can help them keep helping young & old in Puerto Peñasco. Your donations may be in the form of money or items such as blankets, clothing, household goods, used wheelchairs, and, of course, your eye glasses. Remember, your donations can me made online or drop them off at El Catorce Restaurant.
